 Cuba and Venezuela reaffirm their adherence to the one-China principle 

Havana, Jan 14 (RHC) The governments of Cuba and Venezuela reaffirmed on Saturday their adherence to the one-China principle.

This was stated on their respective accounts on the social network X, by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez and Yván Gil, respectively.

The head of Cuban diplomacy pointed out that the Island supports the Chinese government's efforts to achieve national reunification.

For his part, Gil attached to his message a communiqué from the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in which he recognizes that the Government of the People's Republic of China is the only legitimate representative of the entire Asian nation.

The text adds that Caracas once again reiterates its friendship with China with the commitment to deepen the excellent relations of cooperation and solidarity that contribute to the consolidation of the community of shared future of humanity.

The candidate of the pro-sovereignty Democratic Progressive Party, Lai Ching-te, won the 2024 elections on Saturday on the island of Taiwan, obtaining 40.05% of the votes.

In the first speech following the announcement of his victory, Lai Ching-te pledged to protect the island from what he called "threats and intimidation from mainland China".
