Havana, April 30 (RHC) The Prime Minister of Cuba, Manuel Marrero, congratulated the people and Government of Vietnam through his X account, on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the liberation of Vietnam’s southern territories.

Through the digital platform, the Secretary of Organization of the Cuban Communist Party, Roberto Morales, also expressed his congratulations to the Communist Party of Vietnam on the national day.

On April 30, 1975, the Vietnamese city of Saigon was liberated by Vietnamese fighters, ending the armed confrontation in the Asian country. That victory opened the way to peace in the nation, allowed the reunification of the north and the south, and meant the first major defeat of the United States in Asia after World War II.
