Cuban Minister of Transport issues warning about fake profile on social network
Havana, June 7 (RHC) The Cuban Minister of Transport, Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, has warned the population about the existence of a fake profile on social networks that supplants their institutional identity and spreads false information.
In a post on his official Facebook account, Rodríguez Dávila urged the development of verification abilities to combat misinformation.
The statement clarifies that these fake accounts operate by imitating the logos, names, and communication styles of legitimate organizations to establish a sense of legitimacy.
Their ultimate objective is to manipulate information and distort official statements.
To verify the authenticity of a profile, it is advisable to examine the number of followers (which is typically lower for fake accounts), the professional writing style (including clear titles, high-quality images, and a well-organized structure), and the consistency of the content.
The minister also encouraged users to promptly report these accounts using the platform's reporting feature.
He emphasized that in an era of information abundance, collective digital responsibility is crucial for safeguarding the right to accurate communication and maintaining the integrity of the information environment.
In this context, he urged citizens to focus solely on official channels, which are known for their clear and concise writing, citing reliable sources, and employing distinctive hashtags. (Source: ACN)
