Cienfuegos, July 26 (RHC)-- "The walls of the Moncada Barracks will no longer be quarries for oppression, but rather frontiers of history," said Armando Carranza Valladares, First Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba in Cienfuegos, summing up the central event for July 26, the 72nd Anniversary of the Assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks, which took place in the municipality of Abreus.

“A generation of Moncadistas is growing up,” he noted, “who will win in honor of Fidel so that none of their comrades are killed or forgotten.  Long live the Cuban Revolution!”

Carranza congratulated the Cienfuegos brothers and sisters for hosting the main activities in honor of this anniversary, as well as the people of Abreu and the recognized entities in Cienfuegos, including the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Thermoelectric Plant and the Oil Refinery, for their significant work for the country.

He acknowledged that they achieved the construction of three photovoltaic solar parks in record time, two of them in Abreu, recovered significant installed potential for emergency generation, and incorporated Block No. 3 of the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Thermoelectric Plant. They continue working to synchronize Block No. 4 in the coming months.”

They especially encouraged the Provincial Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) Delegation, and the Cienfuegos Military Region, whose actions safeguard the principles of Socialism and, together with the people, protect dignity, civic tranquility, social justice, and revolutionary ethics.

Seventy-two new members received their Party membership cards.

The First Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Yadira Pérez Negrín, highlighted the continuity in this territory, which has had two consecutive years with zero infant and maternal mortality, while nursing homes are almost fully occupied. Who would have thought this before the Triumph of the Revolution?

"Consultations completed 122 percent," she asserted, "and health care in Abreus is a victory of the people and for the people. The Alimentaria, for more than three decades of commitment, has NOT given in; amidst the limitations, it has shown that it can be done, it has grown, it has endured."

In the center and south of the country, more than 25 projects were inaugurated in honor of the anniversary.  Around 15 of them were in this municipality of Abreus.

They opened a modern rice drying facility, using Chinese technology, in the Constancia People's Council and visited the drip irrigation system for plantain planting at the Horquita Agricultural Company.  They also handed over a playhouse for the children and grandchildren of the company's workers.
