Havana, December 17 (RHC-Granma) -- Members of the National Assembly of People’s Power permanent commissions are currently holding their final meetings for 2014, considering broad agendas including issues related to their area of responsibility, on which they have been working throughout the year.

During this period leading up to the IV Period of Ordinary Sessions of the 8th Legislature, to be held in Havana’s Convention Center, legislators will examine issues which are common to all, and in each specific commission, relevant aspects of the implementation underway of Social and Economic Guidelines, approved at the 6th Party Congress.

As is customary this time of year, two commissions in particular - Economic Affairs and Constitutional/Legal Affairs - have important tasks to complete.

The first must comprehensively analyze the results of this year’s Economic Plan and State Budget, in addition to studying the 2015 proposals being submitted for approval, while the latter will evaluate the implementation of recently approved laws and any proposed changes.

Being discussed in this commission, among other issues, are new foreign investment and labor laws, as well as efforts to combat corruption and economic irregularities.
