South African Miners Welcome Cuban Five's Upcoming Visit

Pretoria, June 8 (RHC)-- The National Union of South African Miners has joined world celebrations upon the release and return to Cuba of the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters, who served long terms in U.S. prisons, and welcomed the upcoming visit to the African country of two of the Five.

The more than 800 delegates to the 15th Congress of the union expressed in a communique their profound solidarity with the cause of Antonio Guerrero, Ramón Labañino, Fernando González, Gerardo Hernández and René González, as well as their satisfaction with the upcoming visit of Gerardo and René to the homeland of Nelson Mandela, slated for next June 21st through July 3rd.

Gerardo Hernández and René González, who together with Fernando González fought alongside the Angolan people against South Africa's apartheid regime, will visit Pretoria at the invitation of the ruling African National Congress (ANC). Their African tour will also include Namibia and Angola.
