High-Ranking Chinese Military Officer Meets with President Raul Castro

Havana, June 16 (RHC)-- The Vice Chairman of China's Central Military Commission, Colonel General Fan Changlong, held talks with Cuban President Raul Castro as part of a three-day visit to Havana.


Fan, who is also member of the Political Bureau of China's Communist Party, previously met with the minister of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, Army Corps General Leopoldo Cintra Frias, who also participated in the talks with the Cuban president later Monday afternoon.


The high-ranking Chinese military chief lead a wreath at the monument of Cuban Independence Hero Antonio Maceo, where he was accompanied by
First Deputy Minister of the Armed Forces, Army Corps General Alvaro Lopez Miera and other Cuban military officers.


Following the wreath-laying ceremony, Lopez Miera explained the significance of the place treasuring the mortal remains of the Cuban independence fighter.


During his three-day visit to Cuba, Fan and his military delegation visited places of historic and cultural interest in Santiago de Cuba, accompanied by Deputy Minister of the Armed Forces Army Corps General Ramon Espinosa and local government and Communist Party officials.
