Cuban Deputy Highlights Cuba's International Cooperation and Solidarity

Mexico City, August 1 (RHC)-- Cuban Deputy Andrés Castro, speaking in Mexico City, highlighted Cuba's solidarity and cooperation with other peoples of the world.

Addressing the 4th Meeting of Parliamentarians, Castro pointed to countless cooperation programs implemented by Cuba in other countries, particularly in the fields of health and education. The meeting of parliamentarians was in the framework of the 21st Sao Paulo Forum, which concluded Saturday in the Mexican capital.

The Cuban legislator pointed specifically to the Operation Miracle free eye-surgery program and Cuba's 'Yes, I Can' teaching method. He explained that Operation Miracle was first launched in Venezuela in 2004 and has now been expanded to 34 other countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa and Asia. He added that more than nine million people in 30 countries have learned how to read and write using the Cuban method 'Yes, I Can'.
