Havana, June 18 (RHC)-- Two work commissions of the Latin American Parliament (Parlatino), are currently holding their ordinary meetings here in Havana. A total of 61 parliamentarians, representing 17 out of Parlatino's 23 member states are participating.

Debates focus on health and education-related issues in the region. Other topics under discussion also include culture, science, technology and communication.

Representing the National Assembly of People's Power (Cuban Parliament), deputy Rolando González Patricio commended the broad representation of national legislative bodies at the Havana meeting, which he said attests to the top priority that regional governments grant to these important issues in their common efforts towards social development. González Patricio also serves as alternate general secretary of Parlatino.
