Havana, September 23 (RHC)-- Cuba maintains the elimination HIV and syphilis mother-to-child transmission as a health problem, a certification recently ratified by the World Health Organization (WHO), local media reported.

Cuban Public Health Minister José Angel Portal said on Twitter that the Caribbean island has maintained this achievement for four consecutive years.

Cuba has been maintaining the elimination of this health problem since 2015, which is an impressive achievement in terms of public health, says a WHO statement quoted by the newspaper Granma.

According to the text, in June 2019, the Caribbean nation submitted a report on the keeping of these indicators to the secretariat of the UN specialized agency.
