Human beings are the most contradictory species in our world

Human beings are the most contradictory species in our world -- and this is a view shared by the majority of experts -- because they are capable of making the purest and most selfless acts of love for their fellow man but also of committing the cruelest of crimes.

The dividing line lies in the principles, ethics and education that each one of us receives in the social environment to which we belong.

Unfortunately, these days the darker side of our behavior prevails, as shown by the events in Afghanistan and the Middle East.

In the latter, Israel has once again released its killing machines against the Palestinian population, in an aggression that reminds us of Operation Protective Margin, perpetrated by the Zionist army in 2014.

For 50 days, the Gaza Strip was bombarded by air, sea and land, a narrow land strip where 2,130 people were killed, most of them civilians and a quarter of them children.

Today everything seems to be heading in a similar direction, as recently warned Israel's acting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Defense Minister Benny Gantz.

Since early May, an acute turmoil has flared up in East Jerusalem, where several Palestinian families are under the threat of expulsion. Then the Zionist police attacked a group of people in the Esplanade of the Mosques and injured hundreds of them.

Three days ago, the Israeli air force began bombing Gaza, allegedly in response to the launching of homemade rockets from there.

Although various parts of the world, including the United Nations, are calling for restraint, the attacks continue and, according to a report recently published, 60 people have already died, among them many children.

The destruction of two buildings was posted online, one of them housed some offices belonging to the Hamas organization officials, and the other served as premises for a Palestinian television channel. What has not been said is that there were also families who lost everything, including their own lives.

The International Criminal Court, which is investigating Israeli atrocities committed in the occupied Palestinian territories, pointed out that several war crimes may have been perpetrated during these days.

Never, however, has a military or Zionist leader been taken to trial and punished for such human rights violations, yet another burden on the conscience of our species.
