Without losing the purpose that gave them life, the defense of the Homeland and its conquests, the CDRs, Committees for the Defense of the Revolution, have been immersed in a process of revitalization and strengthening of the grassroots structures to adapt them to current times.

And it was in this spirit of renewal that the organization reached its Tenth Congress, which closes its doors today in Havana and was preceded by debates in the communities that showed the importance of continuing to improve the work in each neighborhood to provide solutions to the problems of its inhabitants, given the complex economic situation of the country, given the strengthening of the U.S. blockade and international conditions.

Important aspects for its internal functioning, but also for the daily life of the nation have been analyzed these days, in which the relevance of motivating the new generations with greater strength stands out.

Although there are many young people in its ranks who work and transform from the communities for the common welfare, it is required a greater dynamism and to adapt its operation to the current times.

Throughout its years of life, the largest mass organization in the country has been present in decisive tasks such as food production, savings campaigns, education and health.

In this last aspect, the blood donations that have saved numerous lives and its support to vaccination campaigns, in which it has worked together with the FMC, Federation of Cuban Women, stand out.

They also developed an arduous work during the COVID 19 pandemic. They backed up the surveys in the neighborhoods to detect possible cases, provide prompt medical attention and prevent the spread of the virus.

The CDRs, especially its youngest members, were supporting in various tasks in the isolation centers set up and also in the communities with their help to the most vulnerable sectors.

As expressed by the national coordinator of the organization and Hero of the Republic of Cuba, Gerardo Hernandez, there has been no space for the welfare and social justice of Cubans, in which the CDRs have not been together with the Communist Party and the government.

More than eight million Cubans are members of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution, which for more than six decades have defended the homeland, its sovereignty and achievements from every neighborhood.
