Cuban Timba band Azúcar Negra has released a new musical video, inviting Cubans to dance at home. Director Leonel Limonta said that the tune, entitled ‘De un día para otro,’ though inspired in the current epidemiological situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, actually encourages people to reflect on several other pressing world problems that have ravaged humanity for quite a long time already.

Limonta mentioned, for instance, inequality, climate change, unjustifiable blockades, punitive unilateral sanctions and bloody wars.

Azúcar Negra was formed in 1998. In 2001, after a number of world tours, the band finally released their first studio album ‘Andar andando’. Their second CD, entitled ‘Sin mirar atrás’, was released in early 2004.

The winners of several Cuban music prizes, including Cubadisco in 2002 and EGREM in 2004, Azúcar Negra has toured extensively around the world, performing in over 20 nations, most notably the United States, Canada, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark, Spain, England, Poland, Austria, Finland, Norway and Caiman Islands.
