New book about Cuban Revolutionary Julio Antonio Mella

The second edition of the book ‘Julio Antonio y Natasha Mella: Reencuentro al final del camino’, was presented on January 10th in eastern Camagüey province.

Written by Adys Cupull Reyes and Froilán González García, the book launch was in the framework of activities on the 93rd anniversary of the assassination of Cuban journalist and revolutionary Julio Antonio Mella in Mexico by henchmen of Cuban dictator Gerardo Machado.

The text, belonging to the Suma y Reflejo luxury collection of the publishing house Ácana, focuses on the family life of the young communist leader, his relationship with his wife Oliva Zaldívar, whom he met at the University of Havana, and their daughter Natasha.

‘Reencuentro al final del camino’, compiles the correspondence between the authors Cupull and González with Mella’s daughter over 15 years, as well as letters from Mella to his wife Oliva Zaldívar and their baby girl, Natasha, whom he fondly called Olivín.

Author Adys Cupull said the text shows a suffering father, who longs for reuniting with his family.
