London, April 27 (RHC)-- The UK Critics Circle nominated the Acosta Danza company and dancer Zeleidy Crespo for the National Dance Awards 2022, an award that recognizes today the best of this art in that country.

According to the Cuban group, the Dance section of this guild selected, in addition to others, the group led by dancer and choreographer Carlos Acosta among the Best Medium-format Dance Companies.

Meanwhile, the first figure of this ballet, Zeleidy Crespo, was among the nominees in the category Excellent Female Performance in Modern Dance for her participation in the show 100%Cuban, presented in the United Kingdom in early 2022.

The award recognizes the work of artists from the Caribbean island for their constant participation in the British scene, and also makes Acosta Danza one of the main ambassadors of Cuban culture on the international scene.

For the second time, the Cuban group was among the best presented on those stages, in the 21st edition of the prestigious award it was recognized as the best independent company.

This category analyzes the ensembles that maintain a stable and permanent work in that nation, and that do not belong to the circle of companies subsidized by the state, the government or any British governmental institution. The classification took into account shows and performances from January 1 to December 31, 2022, as a result of which the winners will be announced on June 5 at a live ceremony at The Coronet Theatre in London.

These awards are organized by the Dance Section of the Critics Circle that each year distinguish the vigor and variety of the thriving dance culture in that country, besides being the only laurels awarded by this guild of dance professionals in the UK.
