Ciego de Avila sweeps Industriales in 60th National Baseball Series

Ciego de Avila, November 1 (RHC)-- Contrary to the forecasts of the experts, Ciego de Avila was reborn from the ashes and won by a score of 9-3 against Industrialists on Sunday -- an unexpected sweep in the fifteenth sub-series of the Cuban baseball season.

At the Jose Ramon Cepero Stadium, the Avileños Tigers forgot their bad times in the current competition and left the Lions of Havana breathless in a real duel of beasts.

Manager Yorelvis Charles fueled his cats' thirst for victory and the response was overwhelming: an effective opening pitch and a productive offense against one of the most stable teams in the competition.

After Saturday's dominance (5-4), the Tigers applauded the single-handed efforts of winning pitcher Luis Alberto Marrero (2-2), author of seven innings with no runs, four hits, and four strike-outs.  The setback was on José Pablo Cuesta's personal account (4-2).
