Havana, September 22 (RHC)-- Atletico Madrid took the lead in the Spanish Football League after defeating Getafe 2-1 in the sixth round of the league, with two goals by Uruguayan star Luis Suarez.

Serbia's Stefan Mitrovic opened the account for the defeated side with a header in the 45th minute, but Suárez made it 1-1 (78') and then scored with his head to make it 2-1 (90'), in a match in which the home side ended with 10 men due to the expulsion of Carles Aleñá (73').

The rojiblancos climb to the top of the table with 14 points while waiting for Real Madrid to play Mallorca today, while Getafe remains without a single point.

At San Mamés, newly promoted Rayo Vallecano, fourth in the standings, beat sixth-placed Athletic Bilbao 2-1.

Before the break, Iker Muniain's free kick into the box was headed into his own net by Senegal's Pathé Ciss (33') for a 1-1 draw. In the final moments of the match, Colombian Radamel Falcao, who entered the field minutes earlier, scored Rayo's decisive goal.
