Sports collaboration between Cuba and Sri Lanka

Colombo, October 29 (RHC)-- Sri Lanka's Minister of Youth and Sports, Namal Rajapaksa, and Cuba's Ambassador to the island nation, Andres Gonzalez, discussed the expansion of bilateral sports exchange during a meeting in Colombo, the Sri Lankan capital.

In the interview, the member of the Sri Lankan Parliament and the Cuban representative discussed especially the training of high performance athletes in the Caribbean island and the sending of coaches to the Asian island nation, said a diplomatic source.

According to Prensa Latina, the traditional bilateral sports collaboration shows an important number of Sri Lankan students graduated in Cuba as graduates in Physical Culture and Sports.

In addition, Cuban coaches rendered their services here to help improve the performances of athletes.

Major General Palitha Fernando, president of the Sri Lankan Athletics Commission, was also present at the meeting, as well as I.M. Ranasinghe, a Cuban graduate and specialist in athletics of the Kelaniya University. (Source: PL)
