Cuban Jasiel Rivero is once again effective with Valencia

Havana, February 14 (RHC/JIT)-- Cuban Jasiel Rivero and his team Valencia Basket were unable to maintain their winning streak after losing 82-99 to Río Breogán, in a game corresponding to the 22nd round of the Endesa Basketball League in Spain.

This was the second defeat of the Taronjas against the Galician team, the only one that has been able to beat them on two occasions, something that even the leaders Real Madrid and Barcelona have not been able to do.

Cuban Rivero could only score six points and grab an equal number of rebounds, although he was only on the court for 12:27 minutes at the Pazo Provincial de los Deportes de Lugo.

A second half with poor effectiveness marked the defeat of the Valencians, who now remain in fourth place with 12 successes and seven failures.

In the first half of the game, the team coached by Joan Peñarroya came out on top with scores of 16-20 and 27-21, but in the second half they lost 22-35 and 17-23.

The losers had a discreet aim in two-point shots, scoring 18 in 34 attempts for 53%, while their rivals got 23 in 34 opportunities for 74%. The home team dominated the rebounds with 35, compared to only 25 for the visitors.

In the game, Bosnian forward Dzanan Musa (31 points, seven assists, five rebounds, 5-5 in three-pointers) had a rating of 47 credits. That was the fourth-best in the last decade of that contest, behind only Sylven Landesberg (52), Dylan Ennis (48) and Askia Booker (48).

This was Valencia's farewell before competing in the next Copa del Rey in Granada 2022 and the break for continental World Cup qualifiers.

On the coming 18th they will be in the quarterfinals against UCAM Murcia and if they advance they will meet in the semifinals the winner between Barcelona and BAXI Manresa on Saturday 19th. The final will be played on Sunday 20th.

Precisely with Barcelona they resume the league calendar on March 5 with a postponed game of the 18th date.
