Inder-Radio, homage

Havana, February 24 (RHC/JIT)-- INDER and Radio Cubana celebrated their historic working ties during a ceremony at the Escuela Superior de Formación de Atletas de Alto Rendimiento (Esfaar) Cerro Pelado, in Havana.

A day after the 61st birthday of INDER, and on Thursday, the 64th anniversary of the first broadcast of Radio Rebelde, representatives of both sectors celebrated unbreakable ties that benefit our people, especially sports fans.

Athletes of the stature of two-time Olympic champions Julio César La Cruz (boxing) and Filiberto Azquy (wrestling) and directors of Esfaar Cerro Pelado, host of the activity, welcomed the visitors and explained their history and results, especially what was done during the 2021 season.

Then the resolutions by which both institutions granted high awards were announced, in the year that marks the centenary of radio on the island.

The sports organization awarded the 60th Anniversary Commemorative Seal of Inder to Radio Cubana, due to the permanent support provided by this system throughout the revolutionary period.

In his words of praise, Raúl Fornés Valenciano, first vice-president of Inder, assured that "our work would be incomplete if we did not count on the work of radio broadcasters and the rest of the media".

Radio Cubana, for its part, awarded its seal and diploma for the centenary, delivered by Loslinda Mondeja González, deputy general director of that system.

The words of praise highlighted the work of the Cuban sports system, its permanent contribution of triumphs and joys for the people, and the important space that the topic has in the transmission grids of the 100 existing radio stations on the island.

The double Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, Filiberto Azcuy, glory of Cuban sports, also received the centennial seal and diploma.

Radio Cubana executives and sports radio broadcasters then visited areas of the Esfaar, forge of great champions and current home of some 877 high-performance athletes.
