Havana, August 5 (RHC)-- The National Commission of Races and Walks confirmed Thursday that for the 96th anniversary of the birthday of the leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, Cuba is organizing the 12th edition of the Olympic Ideal half marathon for next Saturday, August 13th.

The race, which will be held between the towns of Güines and San José de las Lajas, in the western province of Mayabeque, will also serve to celebrate on the same date and year, the founding of the Cuban Olympic Committee (COC), one of the 204 national sports organizations belonging to the movement under the five rings.

The race will start at 6:30 a.m., local time, from the Nelson Fernandez Sports Center, located in San Jose de las Lajas.

This competition will be open to all regular walkers, national and foreign, who wish to attend and therefore has the incentive of granting bonuses for the Havana Marathon.

The National Commission of Races and Walks told Prensa Latina that the registration process for the half marathon will begin at the Havana Agrarian University 'Fructuoso Rodriguez', in the capital of Mayabeque, once the last bus with the walkers arrives from the Sports City in Havana.
