Villa Clara U-23 champion

Havana, August 7 (ACN)-- There was no margin for chance and Villa Clara, the best team in the qualifying phase, left Santiago de Cuba lying on the field with a 4-3 score in 11 innings to win the title in the VII edition of the National Baseball Series under 23 years old.

In their Augusto César Sandino Park, the Azucareros gave the fans their first gold medal in these competitions, by winning two games in succession against the Avispas santiagueras who today played very bad defense by committing a whopping four errors.

The Azucareros solved the decisive third chapter by taking advantage of an error by the starter, then came a sacrifice bunt and the scene was set for the golden jit by the leadoff man and fourth baseman Yuri Fernandez on a delivery by reliever Jaime Jefferson.

The victory went to Oscar Aveillé, who is the starter for the Villaclareña team, but today he came to the rescue and pitched an immaculate inning with the game tied 3-3.
