Havana, October 14 (JIT)-- A delegation of the Cuban Volleyball Federation will travel to Cambodia from October 14 to 24 in response to an invitation from its counterpart in that country. The interest of both parties is to expand and strengthen sports cooperation.

The exchange will contribute to the preparation of the volleyball players of the brother country in view of the XXXII Southeast Asian Games, to be organized by Cambodia in 2023.

Last September, the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports of the Asian country, Hang Chuon Naron, traveled to the island as part of a high-level delegation led by Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen. During his stay here, he signed a cooperation document with the Inder, in the person of its president Osvaldo Vento Montiller.

The delegation travels this Friday, composed of the men's team that has just participated in the V Pan American Under-21 Volleyball Cup, as well as technical staff, referees, doctors, sporting glories and managers. It will be headed by Raúl Fornés Valenciano, first vice-president of Inder.

"We will take the opportunity to contact the Cuba-Cambodia Solidarity Association and all those who in one way or another are in solidarity with our nation, because they have studied here or have had some exchange as part of the close relationship between the two countries," Fornés Valenciano told JIT.

During the stay, several matches are scheduled against the Cambodian national team that is preparing for the Southeast Asian Games. They will take place in the evenings in their main hall. Joint training sessions will be held in the mornings.

In compliance with this collaboration, Cuban indoor and beach volleyball coaches Berto Friol and Karel Peña, respectively, are already providing their services in the Asian nation.
