Alejandro Urgellés Cup

Havana, November 8 (JIT)-- Six teams from Cuba and Puerto Rico will host the Alejandro Urgellés Basketball Cup at the Havana Sports City Coliseum, dedicated to the men's masters category.

The event will be contested by players in the 60 and 65 years old age groups.

The Puerto Ricans registered one team in the first group and two in the second, the same number as the hosts.

The actions began on Monday, with three games per day, except for Wednesday, which is dedicated to rest.

The competition will continue until next Saturday, when the round-robin matches will be completed.

After the qualifying stage, the semifinals will be played between the top four teams and the winners will compete for the title.

This is a bilateral top in which it is more important to strengthen the bonds of fraternity and brotherhood among the participants. The competitive aspect is less important here than paying homage to Alejandro Urgellés and giving participation to the veterans who still practice basketball, said Dalia Henry, president of the Cuban basketball federation.
