Paris, January 2 (PL)-- Lens ratified at home its condition of revelation club of French soccer by ending the undefeated season 2022-23 of the leader and favorite PSG, defeated 1-3 in the 17th round of Ligue 1.

The match between the frontrunners and their surprise chasers was rightly considered a high-voltage duel at the Bollaert-Delelis stadium in the northern city, where the home side tallied goals from Poland's Przemysław Frankowski, Belgium's Loïs Openda, his eighth of the tournament, and France's Alexis Claude-Maurice.

The Blood and Gold attacked the Parisians from very early on, decimated in their attacking trident by the absence of star players Lionel Messi and Neymar, and already in the fifth minute they took the lead to unleash the joy in the 38,000-seat stadium.

The visitors equalized thanks to 20-year-old Hugo Ekitike, but Lens made their record of 11/11 Ligue 1 goals from Openda and Claude-Maurice count.

PSG had the ball, and seeing themselves at a disadvantage, tried to step on the gas, but lacked inspiration, even if star Kylian Mbappé looked to push it, tonight without the chance to become the savior hero of the still leaders.

With their win, Lens reached 40 points, four behind their victims, who saw the last unbeaten run of the campaign among the teams in the top five European leagues (England, Spain, Germany, Italy and France) fall, after 23 matches without defeat in Ligue1, the Champions League and the local Super Cup.
