Havana, March 2 (RHC)-- The president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, along with other top sports executives, arrived Thursday in Havana, where they will meet with representatives of the athletic movement and inaugurate facilities.

Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Jorge Luis Perdomo and the president of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (Inder), Osvaldo Vento received the visitors at the 'José Martí' international airport.

Former gymnast Roberto León Richards, head of the Cuban Olympic Committee (COC); Yumilka Ruiz, former Olympic champion volleyball player and member of the IOC Athletes' Commission; María Caridad Colón, former javelinist, first Olympic gold medalist in Latin America, and Mijaín López, four-time champion under the five rings in Greco-Roman wrestling and representative of the athletes in the COC, also came to the air terminal to welcome them.

At five o'clock this afternoon, a surface donated by Panam Sports is scheduled to be inaugurated at the Sports City in the Cuban capital.
