Havana, August 30 (RHC) --The Medical Commission of Centro Caribe Sports announced an adverse result for Cuban weightlifter Marifélix Sarría, after an anti-doping test practiced at the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador 2023.

The National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER) confirms that the Cuban sports authorities and the athlete in question have been notified about the result of the analysis practiced on the gold medalist in the aforementioned competition.

The anti-doping test was performed on Sarría on June 27 at the venue of the Central American and Caribbean Games.

"By the way, we inform that the athlete takes the steps adjusted to the established procedures, for the sake of another instance of evaluation," says the INDER.

It notes that in parallel, the Institute of Sports Medicine has managed the creation of a working group composed of specialists who investigate in detail the particularities of the case, while the athlete receives the attention she deserves in the exercise of her rights.

INDER states that "We reiterate our traditional support for ethics and fair play, and rejection of any behavior that violates these values".
