Havana, October 12 (ACN) -- Cuba's beach duo Jorge Luis Alayo-Noslen Diaz lost 0-2 to Italy's Enrico Lupo-Daniel Rossi in the Round of 32 of the World Championship, and was left out of the competition that takes place in four venues in three Mexican cities -Tlaxcala, Huamantla and Apizaco-.

With the stage at the Tlaxcala Bullring, the Italians showed better performance in all elements of the game and won with partials of 21-16 and 21-15, a result that prevented the Cubans from surpassing the performance of the previous event of the orb in Rome 2022, when they finished in 17th place.

According to the site of the International Federation www.fivb.com, Lupo and Rossi took a small advantage in the official statistics, since in the attack they scored 25 points to 22, the blocking (8-4) and the service (2-1), to which is added that they gave only one point less due to their own errors (4-5).

Despite the loss, Alayo was the top scorer of the match with 19 points, 14 in attack, four in blocking and one in serving, followed by Rossi (18/10-0-0), Lupo (17/15-0-2) and Diaz (8/8-0-0).

The couple from the largest of the Antilles advanced directly to the Round of 32 as the leader of Key I, with five points, two wins and one setback.

The first victory was against the Czech Republic duo Perusico-Schweiner, with a 2-1 slate (21-17, 15-21 and 15-9), then they lost 1-2 (20-22, 21-19 and 12-15) against Brazil's Evandro-Arthur, and at the end of the group phase they defeated Mexico's Galindo-Aguirre 2-0 (21-18 and 21-11).

Following Cuba (5/2/1) were the duos of Brazil (5/2-1) and Czech Republic (4/1-2), who also finished second and among the best four thirds of the group phase, in that order, and Mexico (4/1-2).

The next commitment of the Cuban duo is the multisport event of Santiago de Chile 2023, scheduled to take place from October 20 to November 5.
