Elite League: Las Tunas broke Industriales' undefeated record

Havana, November 11 (RHC)-- Las Tunas left Industriales (7-6) on the field in the tenth inning and broke their undefeated record, at the end of the first sub-series of the II Cuban Baseball League.

 The game, played this Friday at the Julio Antonio Mella stadium, had no winner in nine innings and was decided by Regla Schiller. 

 The Leones scored one run in the tenth act, in which the Leñadores scored the two decisive runs, both towed by Yordanis Alarcón's jit against the closer Juan Xavier Peñalver.

 For the Leñadores, Yosvani Alarcón and Roberto Baldoquín each hit three hits. Industriales left 10 runners on.

 So, there are no more unbeatens in the young tournament. Industriales won 3-1 this first particular duel against the Tuneros.

 Thus, the Leones are tied in first place with Sancti Spíritus, which today beat Artemisa 9-7 at its José Antonio Huelga Park.

 Yunier Mendoza, who hit 3-2 and drove in two runs, was the outstanding hitter for the Gallos. First win for closer Yanielkis Duardo, who allowed just one hit in two innings. 

 In the other duel of the day, an excellent performance of the pitching staff gave Santiago de Cuba a 1-0 victory against Matanzas. 

 The run of the Avispas santiagueras came in the seventh inning by Francisco Martínez's home run against the reliever Frank Luis Medina.

 At the end of this first sub-series, Industriales and Sancti Spíritus lead (3-1), followed by Matanzas and Santiago de Cuba (2-2). Behind are Las Tunas and Artemisa (1-3) (Source: Prensa Latina).
