Havana, December 2 (PL)-- The German soccer team defeated France 6-5 today in penalty shootout and was proclaimed champion of the U-17 World Cup in Indonesia.

The Teutons, whose best performance in this category was a second place in the first edition of China 1985, finished undefeated after a perfect group stage, beating the United States 3-2 in the round of 16, Spain 2-1 in the quarterfinals and Argentina in the semis in a penalty shootout.

Goals from Paris Bruner in the 29th minute and Noah Datvich in the 50th minute were not enough for the victory against an opponent that never gave up, dominated the ball more and equalized through Saimon Bouabré (52nd) and Mathis Amougou (84th).

In a heart-stopping finale that brought the Stadion Manahan to a standstill, Robert Ramsak, Max Moerstedt, Fayssal Harchaoui and Almugera Kaba scored to end a lottery where the Gauls missed three chances.
