Havana, January 31 (JIT) - A total of 183 competitors are registered for the Acapulco 2024 Olympic Wrestling Qualifier of America, in Mexico, scheduled from February 28 to March 1st.

The most populated style will be freestyle, with 67 gladiators and three divisions with 12 each, namely 57, 65 and 74 kilograms.

In women's wrestling, 59 candidates for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will take part, and in Greco-Roman wrestling, 57, with a couple of categories with 12 contenders (67 and 77 kg), the maximum to date.

According to the World Wrestling Union, Cuba is registered with six bookmakers, five women and three Greco-Roman wrestlers, taking into account that during the last world championship Milaymis Marín Potrillé (LF, 76 kg), Luis Orta (LG, 67 kg), Gabriel Rosillo (LG, 97 kg) and Oscar Pino (LG, 130 kg) won tickets.

In this sport, the quotas are assigned to the National Olympic Committee, so the representative can change from the qualifying phase to the Games, which explains why Mijaín López and not Pino will go up to the mats next summer.

The Cuban bookmakers called to qualify are Osmany Diversent (57 kg), Alejandro Valdés (65 kg), Franklin Marén (74 kg), Yurieski Torreblanca (86 kg), Arturo Silot (97 kg) and Ibraín Torres (125 kg). Of them, only the first two could face representatives of the United States, undoubtedly the great power in this style.
