Havana, February 5 (RHC) - Cuban diver Anisley García finished 19th in the individual platform at the World Aquatics Championships in Doha (Qatar), and virtually qualified for the Paris-2024 Olympic Games.

The qualification process in the women's 10m platform awarded Olympic places to the 12 best divers who had not previously qualified in other events.

Of the first ones now in Doha, seven already had Olympic tickets, so the champion of the San Salvador-2023 Centrocaribes will be in Paris, although the International Federation (FINA) will announce the official list at a later date.

Anisley, 22, placed 19th in preliminaries with 259.90 points, and was just one spot away from entering the semifinals.

The platform final will take place this Monday, and Mexicans Alejandra Orozco and Gabriela Agundez will compete for Latin America.

Another Cuban diver who already competed in Doha, 18-year-old Frank Abel Rosales, finished in a meritorious 15th place in the 1m springboard, with 317.40 points.

The non-Olympic event was won by Mexico's Osmar Olvera, followed by Australia's Shixin Li.
