Paris-2024 Olympics

Havana, February 28 (REU).- A backpack containing a computer and two memory sticks with security plans for the Paris Olympics was stolen from a City Hall engineer, two sources with direct knowledge of the matter said.

One of the sources, who could not reveal his identity because he is not at liberty to discuss the matter, told Reuters that the backpack was stolen on a commuter train.

The two sources could not specify the sensitive nature of the data.

Police were not immediately available for comment and Paris 2024 organizers declined to comment.

The Paris Olympics will be held from July 26 to August 11 and some 30,000 members of the police force are expected to be mobilized daily during the Olympics, with some 300,000 spectators expected to attend the opening ceremony on the banks of the Seine River.
