
Women's Copa America
Havana, July 16 (RHC) - The Women's Copa América soccer tournament continues today in the Ecuadorian capital, where athletes from 10 teams are vying to be crowned continental champions despite the tournament's lack of popularity among the local public.
On Wednesday, Bolivia will face Brazil, who are the favorites, and Venezuela will take on Colombia. On Tuesday, the second round of the Cup was played, and the host country secured its first victory after beating Peru 3-1, while Argentina celebrated a win against Uruguay.
Ecuador leads Group A with four points, followed by Chile and Argentina with three points each, Uruguay is in fourth place, and Peru is in last place.
Meanwhile, Group B is led by Paraguay and Brazil with three points each, while Colombia, Venezuela, and Bolivia have yet to secure a victory at the start of the competition.
The 2025 Women's Copa América kicked off last Friday, July 11, in Quito, and so far, the stands have been mostly empty.
The championship, which will run until August 2, will serve as a qualifier for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games and the 2027 Pan American Games.
