Havana, November 5 (RHC)-- Cuba’s western province of Pinar del Río now has one of the most modern rice dryers in the world.

Located about 160 kilometers from Havana, Pinar del Río will now be able to mass produce rice, thanks to a loan from the Chinese government.

The drying plant, complete with high-level technology from China, including a drying room store silo and even a laboratory will have the ability to process around 37 tons of rice every day.

Project specialist Fernando González Ortega said: “The Chinese technology, if we compare it with other technologies that we have installed in other dryers in the province, it is the most modern technology that we have here.”

With tech provided by the Chinese company Muyang, the plant will process rice from the nearby rice field of La Guapa.

Although ultimately expected to deal with more than 2000 hectares, at first the project will service around 230 when it first kicks off.
