Caracas, February 20 (RHC) -– The death toll from Venezuela’s unrest has risen to six amid heightened tension in the country.

Venezuelan state television said on Wednesday that a woman, who had suffered a heart attack, died after the ambulance that was taking her to hospital was blocked by rioters in the capital Caracas.

The latest death brings to six the number of fatalities in a week of violence in the country, organized by opposition political sectors in a bid to destabilize the government of socialist president Nicolás Maduro.

Earlier, a female student died after being shot in the head by unknown gunmen on motorcycles in the northern city of Valencia. Three were shot dead in Caracas and another person was run over by a car during an opposition rally in the northeastern city of Carupano over the past week.
