Santiago de Chile, March 10 (RHC) -– Chilean president-elect Michelle Bachelet says her administration will strive to improve relations with Latin America and the Caribbean, particularly with Venezuela.

Michelle Bachelet highlighted a few days ago that her administration will support the Venezuelan government and people to find a democratic way out of the ongoing political crisis there. She also rejected the violent actions carried out by right-wing groups to destabilize the democratic government and called for respect of human rights.

According to the journal La Tercera, Bachelet will meet soon with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in the Diplomatic Academy in Caracas.

Furthermore, government officials from member countries of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) will gather on Wednesday to discuss the situation in Venezuela.

Bachelet is set to be sworn in as President of Chile on Tuesday and several regional leaders have already confirmed their attendance at the ceremony, including Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff.
