Caracas, July 5 (RHC)-- Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said Monday that independence must be built and defended every day, during an event with the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB).

In the framework of the 210th anniversary of the declaration of independence of the South American country, the head of state emphasized that celebrating this date "means a commitment to recover the socialist welfare state, overcome criminal sanctions and find the paths of sustainable development."

"Independence is a permanent struggle for dignity.  Independence is made every day, it is defended every day, it is built every day.  Today we can celebrate that magnanimous act of declaring Independence in a free, rebellious and sovereign land," said Nicolas Maduro.

In addition, he indicated that those who govern in Bogotá have been in charge of momentarily separating the paths of two sister Republics, Colombia and Venezuela.

"The oligarchies that still have economic, political and communicational power have imposed their disintegrating vision, subordinated to the empire, but we are sure that a new wave of emancipation of Latin America and the Caribbean will arise", commented President Maduro.

The president also expressed that having defended independence provides the opportunity to conquer, recover all social and economic rights that have been affected by the illegal and unilateral imposition of coercive measures by the United States (U.S.) and its allies.

"How glorious and great was the Bolivarian vision of having a whole continent free, independent and building its own path," he added.
