Lima, August 11 (RHC)-- The Peruvian president, Pedro Castillo, affirmed on Wednesday that he will remain in the highest office of the country, despite the pressure from Congress against him and the investigations of the Attorney General's Office for alleged acts of corruption.

"I will not dissociate myself from this people who for centuries have been demanding justice," said Pedro Castillo before leaders of the Central Única Nacional de Rondas Campesinas, traditional community security organizations, who visited him at the Government Palace and gave him their support in the face of opposition attempts.

The Peruvian President said that since the beginning of his Government, he has tried to maintain a dialogue with the Parliament controlled by the opposition and denounced that the legislative body has another agenda.

In view of this situation, Castillo announced that from now on he will work hand in hand with the people and their organizations and social movements.

Regarding the judicial proceedings against his sister-in-law Yenifer Paredes, which resulted in Tuesday's raid to the Presidential Palace, Castillo assured that, although some sectors have "seriously hit" his family, they will not break him and his administration will continue working for a country "with equality".

Pedro Castillo indicated that the actions against his sister-in-law "is part of the struggle, it is part of the political life in Peru."   Castillo added that the presentation before Justice of Paredes in compliance with an arrest warrant for ten days, "strengthens him".

The Peruvian president described as a media show the accusations and proceedings of the Peruvian Prosecutor's Office against his sister-in-law and denounced that it is all part of the actions that seek to remove him from power.
