Thanksgiving reminds us of genocide of Native American peoples

New York, November 23 (RHC)-- Thursday is Thanksgiving -- celebrated in the United States on the fourth Thursday of November.   It's a time for families to get together and have their annual meal of turkey and dressing.

But Thanksgiving day is also a reminder of the genocide of millions of Native people, the theft of Native lands, and the relentless assault on Native culture by U.S. colonial rule and the extermination of Indigenous peoples in the United States.

Political observers said it is important to remember the true history of this Thanksgiving celebration, with millions of Native Americans killed by the colonial onslaught of European settlers on Native Lands.
