Ecuador hosts meeting on tourism in the Americas

Quito, Jun 27 (RHC) Ecuador hosts the 68th edition of the Regional Commission of the Americas of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) this Tuesday and Wednesday, where representatives of the region's nations promote their destinations.

Authorities from 26 UNWTO member states in the Americas will also attend the seminar “Sustainable Investments, a Strategy towards Competitiveness.”

Ecuadorian President Guillermo Lasso and UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili expect to attend the opening ceremony on Tuesday.

A statement from the Ministry of Tourism noted that the host country will show progress in sustainability, business competitiveness, and international relevance.

The forum would define the UNWTO’s work program for the 2024-2025 period.

Attendees will discuss, among other issues, how to promote opportunities to boost economic recovery and job creation in the tourism sector and its value chain.

Before concluding, participants will determine the venue for the 69th edition of the regional meeting. UNWTO informed that it received Cuba’s nomination to host the event. (Source: PL)
