Managua, July 23 (RHC)-- The Government of Nicaragua has congratulated the multiplatform channel teleSUR on the 18th anniversary of its creation and praised its informative work at the service of the people.

In a message sent to the president of the television station, Patricia Villegas, Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo, said that "it is not easy in the world we live in and continue to change, to reach 18 years of efforts that only the absolute conviction about our liberation routes make possible".

"With these our truths, which the global media corporations try to silence, teleSUR connects us and together we go forward, leading the battles and triumphs of each day."

Ortega and Murillo assured that teleSUR "is a great victory of Chávez, of Nicolás, of the Bolivarian Revolution, of ALBA (Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America), of our Revolutions."  They stated that these processes of changes "in different models and times are advancing, without selling out or surrendering, building deserved, indispensable, unavoidable, essential, essential futures, already indispensable, as part of this new world that 'between rhythms and drums' we are inhabiting".

They also expressed their certainty that "the struggles, the highest of songs, continue... the victories are ours" -- including teleSUR among them.
