Rio de Janeiro, July 7 (RHC)-- Turkey’s minister of foreign affairs has warned of global consequences if the Israeli regime’s aggression and expansionism are not brought under control.  “If Israel’s aggression and expansionism are not brought under control, the consequences will be felt globally,” Hakan Fidan warned during a session at the 17th BRICS leaders' summit in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.

According to Turkish diplomatic sources, Fidan said that Israel’s war in Gaza has reversed decades of development in the region.  Speaking at a panel called “Strengthening Multilateralism, Economic-Financial Affairs, and Artificial Intelligence,” Fidan said the regime’s actions have resulted in a series of crises for international institutions that are responsible for maintaining peace and security throughout the world.

“The tragedy of the Palestinian people is now at the center of our discussions on multilateralism,” he said. “This situation is a serious crisis for the legitimacy of institutions responsible for maintaining international peace and security,” he said.

Fidan said Turkey is intensifying efforts to support a peaceful resolution and de-escalation in the region and is ready to support a permanent peace.  He emphasized that globalization has deepened mutual dependencies, and made value chains, particularly in critical minerals, and energy.

“As the world moves toward multipolarity, global governance of artificial intelligence is becoming a critical priority … Necessary precautions must be taken to prevent AI from turning into a new tool of domination,” he said.

The Israeli regime has waged a genocidal war against Gaza since October 7, 2023, which has resulted in the death of 57,418 Palestinians, and wounding of 136,261 others.  Supported by the Unitee States and other Western nations, the regime constantly attacks regions in Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen which has resulted in the death of thousands of people and destruction of civilian infrastructure.

On June 13, the Israeli regime also launched unlawful aggression against Iran, leading to the assassination of many senior commanders, nuclear scientists, and ordinary citizens.

Iran retaliated in less than 24 hours with a barrage of drones and missiles and followed it up with a series of retaliatory operations under the name of True Promise III.

The Israeli regime has used AI in many of these acts of aggression and is the first political entity that has weaponized AI on a global scale as it has shares in many of the major technology-based companies such as Google, Microsoft, and Amazon.
