Venezuelan President Arrives in Algeria

Algiers, January 13 (teleSUR-RHC)-- As part of his official tour of OPEC member nations this month, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro arrived in Algeria on Monday to discuss new bilateral cooperation projects. Algerian Prime Minister Abdemalek Sellal welcomed Maduro with military honors.

Traveling from Doha, Qatar, Maduro's meetings will focus on the stabilization of oil prices and economic cooperation according to Venezuelan sources, reports Prensa Latina new agency.

In an official statement released by the Algerian government, Maduro's visit looks to, "consolidate even more the current excellent friendship and cooperation between the two countries." The statement continues "This will also be an opportunity for a consultation between Algeria and Venezuela with respect to the current oil prices crisis, and toward its recuperation."

During his visit to Qatar, Maduro signed several agreements including the creation of a bilateral partnership on a special development project. Maduro expressed that Qatar's specialty in food processing is part of the agreements. Maduro also announced that direct flights from Caracas to Doha will also be created to facilitate tourist flows and open cultural exchange.
