Beijing, May 16 (RHC-PL)-- Cuban executives in Beijing are promoting mining business opportunities, seeking to attract Chinese investment.
A delegation from the Ministry of Energy and Mines held a workshop at Cuba's Embassy in Beijing on Tuesday before Chinese entrepreneurs and companies where it showcased several projects, especially in nickel and cobalt.
Alexis Gongora, deputy director general of Mining in Cuba, told Prensa Latina that there is a high level of progress in the ferronickel project in which several Chinese companies are involved, and an agreement is being made with the Metallurgical Corporation of China (MCC.
He stressed the long term Chinese interest in investing in Cuban mining, adding that projects in this sector are closely linked to costs and require a lot of time due to geological research, testing of minerals and selection of the appropriate technology.
According to the expert, China has two valuable factors to be used and combined, financing and the technology to process minerals.
