Havana, December 4 (RHC)--Cuba is following with great concern the situation that has developed in Honduras after the presidential elections held on November 26.

According to a statement by the island´s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, read by deputy minister Rogelio Sierra, Cuba rejects the repression against demonstrators, regrets the loss of human lives and urges authorities to respect the will of the Honduran people.

The declaration called attention to the complicit silent kept on the events by the Secretary General of the Organization of American States, Luis Almagro.

"We reject interference in internal affairs and demand the right to peace and development of our peoples,  as expressed by the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, signed by the Heads of State and Government of the region, in the 2nd Summit of the Latin American and Carribbean Community (CELAC)  held in Havana in January 2014", the declaration stressed.
