Cuba and Latin America Cooperation Project Reopens Hospital in Haiti

Port-au-Prince, February 21 (RHC)-- A community hospital was reopened in the Haitian Department of Artibonite as part of a solidarity projected boosted by Cuba, the Union of South American nation, UNASUR.

The hospital was rebuilt and expanded in 144 days, an investment valued at nearly 572 thousand dollars.

During the ceremony, Haiti’ s Health Minister Florance Duperval praised the work of Cuban voluntary workers, describing it as the most important aid received from abroad, and underlined the role of preventive medicine.

Meanwhile, Rodolfo Mattarollo, representative of the Office of UNASUR to that nation stressed Cuban cooperation with the project and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity of having been part of that initiative.
