Havana, February 15 (RHC-Minrex) -- Ena Elsa Velazquez Cobiella, Cuban Minister of Education, welcomed Wednesday Senator Ruel Reid, Jamaican Minister of Education, Youth and Informationca, who is participating at the International Congress of Higher Education 'University 2018' in Havana.

During the cordial meeting both authorities expressed the willingness to continue strengthening cooperation in this sphere and identify new areas for cooperation.

The opportunity also served to sign a Letter of Intent for cooperation in this area, in particular technical and professional assistance. According to the text of the document, signed by both ministers, the parties agreed to extend the Agreement for Cooperation under which tens of Cuban professors teach in schools all over Jamaica.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Grace McLean, Director of Education at the Jamaican Ministry of Education, and Peter Bailey, Chargé d´Affaires at the Embassy of Jamaica in Cuba.
