Havana, March 13 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel paid tribute to the young people who participated in the assault on the Presidential Palace and the taking of the radio station Radio Reloj, on March 13, 1957, as part of efforts to overthrow the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship.
"Sixty-two years ago, young university students fell in combat against a bloody dictatorship, protected by Washington. The heirs of the henchmen, under the skirts of the empire, cry out today for our blood. We are not a country with a short memory," the president wrote in his Twitter account.
During the clashes, the leader and secretary general of the Revolutionary Directorate, José Antonio Echeverría, was killed.
