Havana, November 12 (RHC)-- The president of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba, Esteban Lazo and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Saleumxay Kommasith met on Tuesday in Havana and praised the good state of bilateral and parliamentary relations.

In the meeting, which took place at the headquarters of the legislative body, both leaders agreed to highlight the deep bonds of friendship and solidarity that unite their peoples.

They also described the relationship between Cuba and Laos as a brotherhood and expressed the shared will to deepen the excellent ties in all spheres.

Lazo emphasized the significance of the Foreign Minister's visit to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Caribbean island and the country of Southeast Asia.

For his part, Kommasith advocated strengthening bilateral ties to develop economic and trade relations, as well as cooperation in health and medical sciences.

In addition, he highlighted the political ties between the two countries and assured that despite the effects of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the island, his country would 'seek alternatives to expand economic and commercial relations'.
